Rhody, Carson and I are finally on vacation in Western Washington. As usual, departure was delayed. Now that we are here, and not at work, I have not been taking pictures like I should have been. Consequently, I am deficient of pictures for Six on Saturday. Four of these six, or two thirds, are not even relevant to horticulture.
1. Sasquatch, who is also known as Bigfoot, is a celebrity of the Pacific Northwest; and is a species that is commonly considered an individual. This was in Canyonville in Oregon.

2. Portland in Oregon is the City Of Roses. This is its South Waterfront district, south of Downtown. Incidentally, most roses prefer the climates of San Jose to those of Portland.

3. Rhody enjoys rest stops. They allow him to renew his ownership of Oregon. This is the Toutle River Rest Area, on northbound Highway 5, north of Castle Rock in Washington.

4. Ferns are common within the coastal climates of the Pacific Northwest. I do not know what this fern is. The pine may be a Japanese red pine. It is in Raymond in Washington.

5. ‘Black Gamecock’ Louisiana iris is to the left within the big box to the right. It was the priority, to replace what the gophers ate last year. There is more now than then! The rest of this vegetation is a dozen or so additional perennials from Tangly Cottage Gardening! I will get individual pictures of some of them as I process them when I get back to work. The unidentified variegated foliage to the far right seems to be variegated Japanese iris.

6. Skooter approves of my exploitation of his garden. He must know that I intend to take better care of his Louisiana iris than I did last year. He was on a sunny porch at the time.

Have a nice trip ! Same thing to me but I’m back from Rome. Some garden things and others.

I am pruning apple trees while here. Does that count as garden things?

I recently discovered a town in Texas called Bigfoot. There weren’t any Sasquatch sightings, though!

I sometimes wonder about sightings in places where it would be difficult for Sasquatch to be elusive. A friend insists that a mysterious animal who makes odd noises at my former home is a Sasquatch, but I seriously doubt that any could live there without detection. The Santa Cruz Mountains are as thickly forested as the Pacific Northwest, but are a much smaller area, surrounded by either water or urban areas.

Road trips are a great opportunity to photograph and compare plant offerings. Dog and cat photos are appreciated.

However, I compare vegetation without pictures.

Enjoy the PNW! Looks like how I remember it! I loved visiting the Hoh rain forest where ferns and trees grew out of other trees, and driftwood could be a trunk with a 6 foot (or more) diameter. Signs saying that swimming is prohibited because driftwood can kill. The pink cherry blossoms always looked so nice against the grey sky!

Not many know about the Hoh Rain Forest. I was there years ago, but even people who live here do not know about it.

Enjoy that box of goodies when you get home.

Oh, I intend to. However, I am concerned that it contains more than I can easily accommodate. I only know where the Louisiana iris are going. I have a good idea where the Japanese iris are going. The rest has yet to be determined.

Good, my husband refers to yet to be determined plants like that as spare parts.

Oh, but these are to rad to be mere spare parts. They are from Skooter’s Garden!

I love long road trips, but don’t do so many now, mainly day trips nowadays

Most people would get here from there by airplane. I enjoy the drive too much to travel by airplane. There is so much between here and there, or there and here.

I agree, plane travel is very stressful.

What a beautiful haul of plants! Congratulations on getting all of the Iris at last. The fern is a Polypodium, but I can’t tell you which one. Isn’t it cool how it grows on the tree? I hope you are having a terrific visit with family. Happy Easter!

Thank you. I still do not know how to accommodate all of this vegetation. I know only where the Louisiana iris will go. I may develop an adjacent space for some of the other species, and perhaps relocate some of it to other landscapes as I get acquainted with it. It is a lot to process.

I’m sure you will find a good spot for each of your treasures! It is finally getting warm enough here that I’ll be able to bring most of the plants you gave me outside soon!

Have a wonderful time! Did I ask you before who Carson is?

Your comment somehow got . . . filtered out, or something like that. I must have blocked your comments. Have you noticed if I ignored other comments?
Anyway, Carson is Rhody’s Roady, a 1994 Roadmaster.

No I don’t think you missed any comments. I had to search about Carson. That’s a nice car!

‘He’ is a nice car, and I have no problem bragging about him. I have driven a few elegant cars, but he is the first that I actually selected. All others were acquired from others who moved away or passed away. By the time I finally decided to select instead of acquire, there were no more elegant new cars to select from, which is how I met Carson. I get a LOT of flack for my selection. I seem to cause that behavior by being eccentric. I am SO sick of being told that I NEED a Toyota! ICK!

Ha, why would anybody tell you you NEED a Toyota? You and Carson are a team. How many miles does he have?

I have no idea, but I seem to cause that sort of behavior, likely because of my eccentricity. It is not just in regard to Carson. People can say some incredibly stupid things. Anyway, Carson has more than 200,000 miles now.

Wow, one engine? That’s incredible. They don’t build cars like they used to.

Carson is only a 1994, so is not yet elderly. Babe, his predecessor, was a comparably awesome 1979 Electra, but was actually of inferior quality, and got about half the mileage in town. Betsy, Babe’s predecessor, was a 1972 Electra, and was the most elegant car in the entire history of the entire Universe!

Wow, what a lineage you have continued. Betsy, in the entire universe, OK! This elegance was: her color, style, what?

Hard topped sedan, which is not such a great example of form versus function, but is quite sleek. Classic gator green with a dark greenish black vinyl roof, like this

That looks like cars I remember. And vinyl roofs, weren’t they the big thing for a while! Betsy is elegant, yes.

Oh yes! That is not actually Betsy, but it looks just like Betsy.

Hurray for Bigfoot and Western Washington!!!

He, she or they are quite a celebrity here! The Bigfoot Museum is in Felton, hundreds of miles from here, and likely beyond the native range of Sasquatch.
